GAH!
So they got this cup today (well, not this one exactly, the better looking one) and we've started the tweaking part of the project. There are always design elements that just don't make it through when using a Print Gocco screen the way we use it, with our overglazes.

Luckily the logo designer contacted us directly (thanks Tom!) so now we begin the back and forth path to a better looking decal :)

On a huge side note, Andy & I totally freaked early this morning (1:15 am to be precise) as we were getting ready to leave here because our dog, Ava, wasn't acting normally - She'd lost control of her bladder and her sense of balance so she was walking a bit 'drunkenly'.

We rushed her to an (thank goodness) overnight Emergency Pet Hospital about 7 minutes from here, and they X-Rayed her, and took samples of stuff.

Good news is she's fine, but she may have problems with crystals in her urine and her bladder...The vet gave her some UTI pills explaining to us the entire time that it's more of a precautionary step.
Eek! More stuff to wig me out. She's been acting normal again, so that's quite a relief! It's kinda like she had a mind belch and forgot where she was and what she was doing - Very, very strange behaviour.

I can breathe again!

clean!

It has been about 10 months since we have done a thorough cleaning and last week we spent about 2 days scrubbing the space and removing the clutter. I feel like a major weight has been lifted - only to be replaced by the weight of one hundred coffee cups.
Back in July we traveled to Milwaukee and participated in the show Art Vs. Craft Round 6 and had a great time. We met Tom Crawford, the station manager for WMSE, when he purchased one of our cups - he warned us that we would be making the cups for their annual pledge drive.
Well, the project came through and we are in the process of putting the finishing touches on the prototype. The cup is a great combination of original artwork combined with the station's logo. For us it is a nice blend of our past commercial work and our current Etsy style of graphic images; definitely the coolest project we have yet to work on.

This is pretty crazy, this getting to the Etsy 500 milestone.

As a small business, and an arts one, a ceramics studio to boot, you don't know how people are going to look at your work online - We have 'street' experience, and that's pretty much it. It's hard capturing the essence of the work with a camera lens, and it's hard trying to describe the work without being verbose (at least for me!)

People react to things differently when they're online - And somehow, we've managed to attract people, even if it's just to quickly click through our work for now. We've made an impression, and got them to look - That's such a rewarding feeling.

Ok, off to clean the workspace - This weekend is our Open Studio, and our friend/fellow Etsyan marstinia will be here, and it's SO scary in here at the moment :)

Here's a picture so I can do a "Before and After" shot tomorrow night:

This week a fellow Etsyan (http://smockyou.etsy.com/) convo'd us to say she'd seen our tile in Scoot! Magazine, and had recognized it - And then today here it is!

I'd like to quote this line from the copy:

"Like most cool, crafty stores on Etsy, these are from a small business, so support the little folks and get them while they last."

Damn skippy!

[thanks for writing about us Scoot!]
